RV sales – Make a Wise Descison

When shopping for RV sales, it is important that you find out the true market value of the vehicle so that you don’t end up over paying.  In order to do so, you must understand the current market trends, how strong the market is, and the demand for the RV you are interested in purchasing.

In RV sales, the simplest way to find the fair market value of a new RV is to find the price paid by the RV dealers. Of course, as in many for profit businesses, in RV sales, this number is not often shared with the public.  The next best route to finding out the fair market value in RV sales is to cost compare.  This doesn’t just mean sticker prices.  Spend time speaking with others who have recently purchased recreational vehicles to see what they paid. Search for RV sales and recent buyers online through a forum or blog.  You can also access RV sales information through consumer publications.  These publications will often have the average price for various models and the rate of unit depreciation.

Spend time researching and asking RV sales questions, so that you make a wise decision.  Price compare new and used RVs, considering rates of depreciation.  Depreciation rates on RV sales are generally consistent, so especially if you are looking at a new RV model, use this method.

Kelly Bluebook or NADA are both two strong, well-respected guides for comparing RV sales. They can be solid starting points, but make sure you speak to other RV owners and dealers before committing to a price.  Online sellers will list prices, as well, so cost compare as many as possible to make sure the actual motorhome you have found has been priced appropriately and fairly.

Your dealer should be open to discussing pricing and fair market value for new and used motorhomes, even if they are not receptive to accepting a lower offer or negotiating.  If you have the solid information and research to back up and support your offer, then the dealer should show flexibility.  Remain patient, and accept that it is common for buyers to walk away, rather than over pay if a seller refuses to adjust and meet your offered terms.  If you find that more than one seller is refusing your suggested offer, double check your notes and reassess your market research.  The market changes constantly, so take this into account as you continue through your buying journey.  Remember that if it is peak selling season or the market is booming, sellers may not be overly eager to cut prices.
