Buyers in every industry have at least one thing in common: the desire to get a good deal. When it comes time to make major purchases buyers are even more likely to spend the time it takes to determine that they are getting exactly what they are looking to buy. They get out there and they shop the market for the best products and the best prices. And when it comes time to buy an RV...the first thing consumers should start looking into are the various dealerships in their area. Know what to look for and make the dealership earn your business; they've got to work for it!
Making them "work" for your business doesn't mean you're being difficult. There are a lot of options out there when it comes to recreational vehicle dealerships. If you live in a highly populated area you'll find two or three or possibly more competitive RV dealerships. They're all there to sell RVs so as soon as you become a potential RV buyer, they want your business! So make sure they're willing to earn it; they know how to work for it!
First check out their basic company history. Do they have a history? How long have they been in business? This is a particularly appropriate question if you're talking about used RV dealerships. A history of successful business indicates that they're doing something right.
Next check out their customer service. Do they provide a high level of customer service? Do they believe in delivering high rates of customer satisfaction? When do they provide great customer service? Do they provide great customer service while selling you a vehicle? Do they provide great customer service during the financing process? Do they provide great customer service when presenting you with your new RV? What about after you have the keys in hand? What about after you drive off the lot? You want a dealership that will be there for you when you need them not just when they need you to meet their sales quota.
What sort of salesmanship philosophy do their sales people present? If you find a great RV dealership you'll notice that they take pride in their staff. A good dealership is built upon a good staff. And a good staff is going to do their job well by earning the customers' business through a strong work ethic paired with fabulous customer service values. A sales staff is a direct reflection of a dealership so if you're not comfortable working with the sales staff; you're not comfortable working with the dealership so find another one.
Take in the overall presentation. How do you feel when you walk onto the lot? Is it clean? Does it appear organized? What about the showroom? Does it feel comfortable and professional? Is the waiting room comfortable? What about the sales floor? A professional sales floor is clean and polished. Do they have an adequate inventory to provide you with the options you need or are they just trying to push the small inventory they keep in stock? If you take into account the little things, you'll have a much better overall experience. And if you've found the dealership you feel comfortable working with; you can trust that they'll help you find the RV that suits your needs!
