Newmar - Two Entrepreneurs Building A Dream On Wheels

Newmar RV Coach Corporation:

Marvin Newcomer and Marvin Miller started Newmar RV in 1968 after leaving their jobs with another major recreational vehicle manufacturer. The corporate company name came from combining Newcomer and Marvin. Freemon Borkholder soon joined the company.

In the early years, Kountry Aire Travel Trailers were the main product line. With America learning more about the recreational vehicle lifestyle, Newmar introduced the Kountry Aire fifth wheel. By the mid 1970's, they established themselves as one of the nation's largest fifth wheel manufacturers. The Kountry Aire Line is still in Newmar's product line-up.

In 1976, Marvin Newcomer sold his share of the company to Marvin Miller and Freemon Borkholder.

Marvin Miller fulfilled a longtime dream in 1981 when Newmar launched the London Aire Line

Kountry Klub, an exclusive social club for owners of Newmar Recreational Vehicles, grew to become an important part of the company in 1985, and currently has over 5,000 members. In 1986, they introduced the American Star and Kountry Star lines, which rank among the most successful products Newmar has ever offered.

In the 1990's, Dutch Star and Mountain Aire brand names were introduced. In 1991, Mahlon Miller became the sole owner of the Newmar Corporation and became a bona fide motorhome manufacturer in 1992.

In 1995, Newmar moved into a new 110,000 square-foot state of the art recreational vehicle manufacturing facility, and currently employs more than 900 people
