Gas prices are at an all-time high in the United States and many consumers are left digging for quarters in their couches in order to fill up their gas tanks. However, those that live full-time in an RV are also struggling, maybe even worse than those who simply use transportation for luxury purposes.
For full-timer RV users, finding ways to reduce gas consumption is an import part of a budget. After all, an RV is not only a source of transportation, but it's a home that is relied upon to supply warmth and shelter. Without fuel, many of the attractive aspects of an RV diminish. Here are a few tips to consider when attempting to lower gas costs in an RV:
• Stay in one place. Limiting how often you move an RV will help save money. • Driving slowly and putting less pressure on the engine uses less gas. Ease up on going over 55 mph with an RV, as it burns a lot more energy creating motion than a smaller automobile. • Limit how often you run the generator. They typically run off the gas in an RV, so using the generator less preserves gas.
Saving gas can feel like a conservative approach to travel, but with prices skyrocketing, limiting travel to a slow moving waltz may be the best way to save on expenses.
