Drivers hoping to pick up a quality motor home from a recognized brand may now have more options when they head to their local dealer. Thor Industries, one of the largest manufacturers of RVs and buses in the country, recently announced the acquisition of regional developer Heartland Vehicles to expand the company's line of towable travel trailers. The acquisition, which Bloomberg Businessweek estimates to have cost Thor approximately $100 million cash as well as 4.3 million shares of its own stock, will see Heartland continue to operate as its own brand, retaining its own employees, production facilities and management team. Thor hopes that Heartland will continue its ongoing successes, as company sales have exceeded $400 million in the past year, making Heartland the third largest manufacturer of fifth wheel travel trailers in the country, and the fastest growing company in the RV industry. "Under Thor's ownership, we will have access to increased financial and operational resources which will enable us to continue our strong momentum in the marketplace," Heartland CEO Brian Brady told the press.
