A group of adult education students at the Penta Career center in Toledo, Ohio, have gone the extra mile to show their support for the local sheriff's department. The students came together to transform an old travel trailer into a new mobile command center for the police agency. Over the past eight months, multiple classes have made the recreational vehicle, which was salvaged from a junk yard, their special project- repairing electrical systems, reinforcing the structure and installing new heating and cooling systems in the vehicle. They even tricked out the RV's exterior with a custom paint job to leave no doubt that this former heap was now a tool of law enforcement. The students presented the keys to the vehicle to Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn in a well-attended ceremony earlier in the week. The law enforcement agency plans to outfit the vehicle with state-of-the-art operations equipment that will allow the vehicle to assist in emergency response calls and disaster relief efforts. RVers in the Toledo area will be able to check out the vehicle in action when it goes into service in early June.
