Despite the potential for record breaking heat, throngs of recreational vehicle enthusiasts have flocked to Iowa for the Winnebago-Itasca Travelers Club Grand National Rally. According to Radio Iowa, the six day event takes place near Winnebago's main factory in Forest City, and attracts RVers from nearly every corner of the country.
The event is organized in large part by Doug Formanek, who is in charge of the club. The location of the rally is especially important, he says, as many RVers identify with Forest City because it is where their vehicle originated from.
Of course, the rally is much more than an opportunity for like-minded individuals to get together. The news source reports it also features activities ranging from the competitive (including the so-called "Moonshine Run) to the informational, specifically seminars centered around cooking and driving while on the road.
The event may be one of the biggest for the next few months, but The Recreational Vehicle Industry Association recently scheduled the The National RV Trade Show for November 29 through December 1 in Louisville, Kentucky.
