In a move that many are heralding as a return to prominence for the industry, the annual RV Super Show returned to Elkhart, Illinois, this past weekend, drawing in drivers and fans from across the country for three days of deals, parties and information of the latest lines of class A motorhomes, fifth-wheel travel trailers and more. The event drew more than 11 dealers from the U.S. and Canada, who showcased an impressive 150 different varieties of recreational vehicles past and present, according to WSBT.com. Attendance and sales were strong for the event, something that Mark Bowersox, the executive director of the Recreational Vehicle Indiana Council, believes is a sign of an economic resurgence. "When you feel better about your financial future and you've had everything tightened down for a while, that's the time people will break loose and say, 'Hey, I'm going to treat myself.'" He told Fox41.com. "We're making a statement that the RV industry is still around and it's still a viable product." The fact that the show even occurred is viewed as a victory by some, as lagging sales and a weak economy forced the show to be cancelled in 2009 for the first time in its 50 year history.
