While the classic image of RV owners is that of retirees travelling the country in search of fun and excitement in their twilight years, recent findings are indicating that RV living may be growing in popularity among the younger crowd, suggesting many families may be seeking out class A motorhomes in place of more traditional dwellings. The Visalia Times-Delta is reporting that the wholesale deliveries of Recreational Vehicles to retailers in the first four months of 2010 have nearly doubled year over year. At the same time, many RV camps and resorts have seen occupancy explode, with reports of double-digit percentage growth across the country, according to the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (NARVPC). Yet according to Linda Profaizer, the president and CEO of the NARVPC, these parks are seeing a shift away from the over 55 markets, with the fastest growing segment being between the ages of 35-47. Analysts have attributed the growth to a number of factors, including the economy and a desire to return to a more cohesive family living arrangement. "People are wanting to do things as families," Mitch Brandon, owner of Sequoia Ranch, tells the news provider. "As long as gasoline doesn't go through the roof, I think this will continue for a while."
