Drivers hoping to hop into their used motorhomes and head down to Lexington, Kentucky, for the forthcoming Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games may find themselves with a new place to stay, as a local panel is currently weighing the decision to create a new RV park and campground mere miles from the Kentucky Horse Park. The request for a new ground comes courtesy of local Man Daniel Sexton, who owns and operates a mobile home and RV park in the Georgetown area. Sexton is seeking clearance to establish a new 444-space RV park on his 90-acre farm off of Old Iron Works Pike. While a decision has yet to be announced, the panel has put forth a list of conditions that Sexton must meet before approval including proper trash pickup, clean water and establishment of new poles and utility lines for campers. The panel will only allow the RV park to be temporary, however, as the farm area is an important source of income for the region. "This is a substantial campsite that, if we are not careful, could fundamentally alter the capability of that farm to return to agriculture," Knox van Nagell, the executive director of the Fayette Alliance, told the Lexington Herald-Leader.
