Packing for a vacation is a chance to reflect. You have all of your personal belongings cleanly laid out on the bed, folded nicely and categorized by color and size. However, is all of it really necessary to bring on a short family RV vacation? Truthfully, no. Figuring out what to bring on a trip is an important step in preparation, but limiting yourself and deciding what to leave home might be even more beneficial.
Choosing to leave products that take up space, add unnecessary weight and serve no real purpose can help conserve gas and save room for more useful items, such as food.
If you're having troubling deciding between which materials could be useful and which are excessive then a good place to start is in the kitchen. Although you may love your fancy espresso-maker, it's entirely too heavy to bring aboard a moving vehicle. Similarly, food is an important part in survival, but packing up the cabinets with enough goods to feed a small army isn't necessary. Many times families over pack the kitchen, which takes up room for other necessities and slows down the vehicle.
