Drivers who are in the market for a new class B motorhome for the summer have likely already begun shopping around to see what the best options available are. Travelers who are looking for luxury, but don't mind close quarters may want to check the new Airstream Avenue, a recreational vehicle that Car and Driver claims is a great overnighter. The relatively small vehicle is built on an extended 155-inch-wheelbase Chevrolet Express 35000 work van chassis and features a powerful 6.0-liter V8 engine. The RV's heritage as a Chevy work van means that it is a rough and rugged machine that can handle all that the road has to throw at it without batting an eye. Its diminutive size doesn't detract from its amenities either, as the Avenue features a bed, toilet, shower, kitchen stovetop with cabinets and refrigerator, fresh- and gray-water tanks, onboard generators and satellite television, among other items. Unfortunately, these extras also add some heft to the vehicle, bringing the curb weight up to 8,100 pounds. Though it may be cramped, reviewers still found the Avenue to be a comfortable and versatile option for short RV trips and light packers.
