In 2010, the recreational vehicle industry showed promising signs of recovery following the economic downturn of the past two years. Now, motorhome dealers are hoping that sales remain at the steady pace and result in a large amount of profit in 2011.
Scottie Manson, the owner of an RV sales company, says that his business saw record profit throughout 2010, according to the Florida Times-Union. His location in St. Augustine, Florida, ranked No. 1 in RV dealers across the state. Manson, whose dealership has 47 locations across the country, believes that he will see similar success in 2011.
"Our inventories are in line with what our customers are wanting today," Manson told the news source. "The manufacturers are responding to the market, and are actually building more RVs that are available for less money."
Individuals who are interested in hitting the open road have begun to invest in towable vehicles. These smaller campers, similar to motorhomes, come with modern accommodations to keep travelers comfortable during their stay in the great outdoors.
Families interested in investing in a motorhome are also turning to financing options. Many dealers now often flexible payment plans for individuals seeking to buy an RV.
