With the Fourth of July just days away, many motorists, including RVers, are gearing up to hit the open road. The number of travelers may be larger than originally expected as a recent report by AAA show gas prices continue to drop.
The organization's Daily Fuel Gauge Reports shows that the national average for regular gas was about $3.54, while diesel is down to $3.90. Both are about a dollar more than the average prices around this time last year, but it is still a precipitous drop from the near four dollar mark it was at earlier in the spring.
According to The State, analysts are encouraged by the news as it is especially good timing given the usual influx in drivers this time of year.
"Any drop in gas prices is good news for motorists, the economy and holiday travelers," Dave Parsons, president and CEO of the travel club, told the news source. "Today’s travelers tend to be much more spontaneous, booking trips last minute. The recent pump price relief will likely spark many undecided Carolinians to take a holiday getaway."
