Many individuals who have become interested in exploring the country in a motorhome are turning to a cheaper, more affordable option: towable trailers. Recreational vehicle dealers believe that much of the success they have seen as of late can be attributed to the growing demand for trailers, which have become an economically-efficient way to enjoy the countryside, according to the Tampa Tribune.
The sluggish economy has forced many families to cut back on their vacation funds, but RVs are giving people the ability to get away from it all in the great outdoors. Trailers range in price, but can be found for as little as $8,000.
"As opposed to a motor home, people are looking for something they can pull with vehicles they already own," marketing director of the Florida RV Trade Association Dave Kelly told the news source.
However, motorhome manufacturers have not stopped producing high-end models for consumers who want to splurge. New models, such as the $2 million Prevost RV, have been designed to cater to individuals who are still investing in luxury vehicles to travel in style.
Spending three days at a campground in a motorhome costs an average of $647, according to the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association. Many families are taking advantage of the cheaper vacation option to save money.
