With summer just around the corner, it looks like there is some good news for users of recreational vehicles. CNN reports that a recent survey conducted by Trilby Lundberg indicates gas prices have dropped about 17 percent over the last three weeks, and experts believe the trend will continue.
This is especially encouraging given the fact that gas prices reached near-record levels earlier this year. The most recent statistics put the national average at $3.74, significantly below the $4 per gallon mark gas reached in early May.
"There's a very good chance that pump prices will continue down, because there is an oversupply of gasoline at a time when our demand is weakening from unemployment conditions," Lundberg told the news source. She added that crude oil has dropped below $100 a barrel, which has also played a role in the dip in prices.
Although the national average is dropping, that’s not to say there aren’t places where gas prices are still high. Chicago was most expensive at $4.29 a gallon, while Jackson, Mississippi had the lowest at $3.41 per gallon.
