There are numerous RV rallies across the country, but one that was recently held in Redwood, Falls, Minnesota, certainly stands out among the rest. The Greater Midwest Classics club, which celebrates recreational vehicles from the '70s, hosted the event, which drew visitors from all over the Midwest.
The Redwood Falls Gazette reports that the club not only has members from states including Wisconsin, Illinois and Nebraska, but also from as far away as Australia. It isn't hard to understand why, as RVs from the time period are exceedingly rare and unique.
According to the news source, General Motors only built 12,921 of their aptly-named GMC?RV between 1973 and 1978. However, since then the automobiles have become legendary and thousands are still out on the road today.
"There is a certain mystique about these RVs," Howard Glenna of River Falls, Wisconsin, told the news source.
In addition to The Greater Midwest Classics club, there are several other organizations that celebrate the appeal of these renowned vehicles. GMC Motorhomes International is one of the oldest, as it formed in 1982.
