With the country's tourism industry suffering massive cutbacks in the wake of the recent economic recession, tourism leaders are branching out into more markets than ever while trying to please niche travelers in the same step. One place seeking to tap the market of Class A motorhome owners is Redondo Beach, California, which recently announced plans to create a new RV site alongside two new hotels in time for next year's tourist season.
The move, which will place all three establishments just off of the 405 freeway, represents four years of planning, as the community had rezoned the plot of land in 2006 with the goal of enticing developers such as these to move in.
"I'm real excited," John Parsons, Redondo Beach's Planning Commissioner, told the Daily Breeze. "I think this is what we were looking for when we envisioned uses for this property years ago."
The new site will feature roughly 154 spots for RVs of all shapes and sizes, though no information as to what amenities may be available with the new property has been released, according to the news provider.
