Smartphone and table apps have helped people do everything from stay abreast of the latest news to play popular board games against their friends. Now, one Canadian recreational vehicle supplier has created a program that is especially well suited to even the most experience RVers out there.
The Globe and Mail reports that recreational vehicle renters CanaDream recently unveiled its own app that provides travelers with a wealth of helpful info. Specifically, it uses GPS techonlogy to generate a list of nearby sights including campgrounds and other places of interest. It also offers discounts from 300 of the company's partners.
The program had been in the works for several years, but the company's developers had to quickly adapt after the announcement of the iPad.
"We were all set to launch [the software] a year ago on GPS screens," CanaDream CEO Brian Gronberg told the news source. "And then they announced the iPad, and we went 'stop' – the technology has caught up with the idea."
The quick change in direction will certainly pay off given that the iPad has all but cornered the tablet market. Within the first 80 days of its launch last year, 3 million were sold.
