RVs Offer Many Choices for Varying Family Sizes

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

RVs are a very popular, very smart choice for families looking to get the most out of their vacation budget. One pitfall that many can’t quite see before they’ve already fallen in is buying more RV than necessary. Assess your family’s needs and purchase the vehicle that is right for you and yours. Don’t worry about what your neighbor is doing or how big your best friend’s recreational vehicle might be. Stick to the facts. And the facts are simple. Determine the facts about your family by running through the following questions:

  1. How big is your family?
  2. Will you be traveling as a family regularly or is the RV for more solitary purposes?
  3. Do you frequently invite others to join you on vacations?
  4. How old are the members of your family and are there any special needs?
  5. Consider those who will be traveling with you frequently. How many beds will be necessary

If you have a large family or you tend to travel in large groups, then you may need to consider one of the larger RVs. If you are considering purchasing a motorhome or recreational vehicle for the purpose of full time RV living, then you may also wish to consider one of the larger RVs. But larger RVs aren’t always the best choice. Individuals who have small families may find that they are happier in a smaller RV or fifth wheel.

Class As are typically the recreational vehicles offering the most interior space. Some fifth are comparable. But there is also the Class C, Class B and travel trailer. The major range of space available leads to a major range in price variation. But we recommend that you actually consider your needs before deciding that biggest is best. Just because you can afford the biggest RV on the road doesn’t mean that you will enjoy owning one or that it will suit your purposes.

Consider the fact that you will have to park it. You will need to learn to maneuver it. You will need to clean it. You will need to keep it stocked with the necessities. You will need to fill the water tanks, and empty the tanks. You will need to pay for gas. There are so many considerations that go into the purchase of a recreational vehicle that it can be confusing. Don’t allow yourself to be derailed from your own list of priorities.  If you need the space of a Class A, then shop for Class As in your price range. But if the Class A sleeps 6-10 and you can’t imagine yourself ever traveling with more than 4 you should probably consider the different RV options. They can be just as luxurious and just as comfortable as the ever-popular Class A.

Used RVs for Sale: Maximize Your Summer Vacation Budget

Friday, June 17th, 2011

Used RVs for sale are just one way that Americans have learned to make the most of a limited vacation budget. The days when many of us were throwing out money out the window without a care in the world are long gone. But that hasn’t resulted in a substantial decrease in the number of individuals who are enjoying summer vacations.

The summertime is still THE time to get out and about and enjoy a nice, relaxing break from reality. Most tend to define a summer vacation as a length of time (anywhere from 3 day to a month) spent somewhere else doing something else. Sometimes this means a flight to Europe or a tropical island. But in many cases, flights are no longer the mode of travel. Used RVs for sale are being sought out by potential vacationers who see them as the perfect solution to their decreased vacationing budget.

Purchasing one of the many used RVs for sale decreases expenditures on a vacation in many ways including:

  1. Decreased cost of travel. Flight costs have gone up. And they seem to continue going up. Many don’t realize just how much until they’re at the airport, bags in hand listening to the “additional fees.”
  2. Decreased cost of accommodations. There are some RVers who still enjoy a night or two in a hotel or resort just for kicks, but when you find one of the used RVs for sale and make it your own you have instant accommodations. And we’re talking about excellent accommodations. Most used RVs for sale have an impressive array of amenities and features ranging from a full kitchen to big screen televisions.
  3. Increased mobility. Many find that once they arrive at their destination on vacation they are limited due to the costs of local travel. Constant taxi rides or daily rental car fees can drastically increase the overall costs of a trip. But when you decide to purchase one of the used RVs for sale you’ll find one of the most advantageous parts of the deal is that you not only have your mode of transportation TO your destination, but you have your local mode of transportation as well.
  4. Decreased cost of food and dining. While part of the fun of being away from home is to let others do all the work for you, it can be a bit nauseating to pay those ridiculously high dining out bills and it can be equally as disgusting to continually eat fast food throughout the course of your trip. With the recreational vehicle, travelers often have access to a full kitchen making it possible for them to eat “normal” food and not pay an arm and a leg for it. They can simply drop by a grocery store and put their foods in the refrigerator.

The advantages of buying a RV are many. And it seems that individuals and families looking for a vacation option that will suit their budget are becoming increasingly aware of the fact. How have you maximized your vacation budget through RV travel?

Pedata RV Center Preps for the Effects on RVs as Baby Boomers Start to Retire

Monday, February 14th, 2011

Pedata RV Center preps for the effects on RVs as baby boomers start to retire. The “retired” crowd was one of the first to embrace the recreational vehicle and industry experts forecast that the baby boomers will also look to RVs as a method of full time living as well as frequent travel.

The retirement of the baby boomer crowd is expected to have potentially negative effects on many industries including: the restaurant industry, the housing industry, taxation, etc. Retired individuals eat out less. Retired individuals often sell their homes (and in a housing market that is already flooded with vacant homes…this could have a substantial negative effect). Retired individuals will decrease the amount of taxes being paid and increase the amount of benefits being paid out.

But when it comes to the RV industry...many expect that the retirement of the baby boomers will have a positive effect. Many baby boomers will turn to RVs as a mode of travel to and from summer/winter destinations. And many will turn to the RV as a means of full time living in their retirement.

Gerard Pedata of Pedata RV Center said, “We’ve always seen a lot of retired individuals buying RVs…some multiple times during their retirement as they upgrade or downgrade depending upon their needs. And we expect to see a lot more as the number of retired individuals jumps dramatically in the next few years.”

Pedata RV Center sells used RVs, travel trailers, fifth wheels, campers, and motor homes. Their full inventory is accessible online and due to their low overhead costs they are able to offer competitive pricing in their industry. Easy access to industry and recreational vehicle information allows consumers to have access to the specific knowledge they need to ensure their purchase results in long term satisfaction.

Pedata RV Center Releases Top 3 List of Tips for Staying Healthy During Holiday Travel

Sunday, December 12th, 2010

Pedata RV Center releases Top 3 list of tips for staying healthy during holiday travel.

Top 3 List of Tips for Staying Healthy During Holiday Travel:

1. Don’t binge and fast. Many holiday travelers find themselves falling into a strange eating pattern: they binge and then they fast until the next binge. This is a very unhealthy cycle and the logic that leads many RV travelers down this road is not sound. Stay healthy by sticking to a regular eating pattern; moderation is still the name of the game.

2. Get out and stay active. Many holiday travelers feel that they aren’t just taking a holiday from work, but they are taking a holiday from exercise. They don’t have to go to the gym! To stay healthy during holiday RV traveling stay active. You don’t have to frequent a gym. You can get out and get active in a very “holiday” fashion. Are you going shopping? Well…walk fast and walk far. Are you looking to look at Christmas lights? Skip the drive and get out of the vehicle for a walking tour of lights. Want to spend time with family? Great! Take everyone outside for a snowball fight.

3. Sleep! You’re on holiday, but that doesn’t mean that the body suddenly doesn’t need any sleep. Denying the body sleep can result in decreased functioning of the immune system. You’ll be more susceptible to cold and flu viruses if there’s a lack of sleep.

Gerard Pedata of Pedata RV Center said, “RVs are an advantage for those who want to stay healthy during holiday travel. They offer the ability to control more elements of your vacation from mobility to dietary choices.”

Pedata RV Center Urges RVers to Celebrate Fall by Making a Fall Festival Road Trip

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

Phoenix, AZ – Pedata RV Center urges RVers to celebrate fall by making a Fall Festival road trip. Many see the recreational vehicle as a means of summer travel, but in today’s day and age the RV is no longer delegated to the sidelines once summer comes to a close. Long time RVers and “first timers” will be able to sit back, relax and enjoy a road trip featuring fall festivals.

Pedata RV Center’s Gerard Pedata said, “For fall travel the East coast is a popular location. It’s commonly agreed that the eastern regions are able to provide the most perfect representation of the fall season. Travelers get the changing colors on the trees, the falling leaves, the breezes and, of course, the fall festivals.”

Popular fall festivals in the New England area:

1.    20th Annual Harpoon Octoberfest, October 2-3, 2009, Harpoon Brewery, Boston, Massachusetts. This festival is known for: one of New England’s largest Octoberfest celebrations annually featuring fresh Harpoon beer samples, German food, live German Oompa Band performances, keg bowling, the Chicken Dance contest and more.

2.    Hildene Fall Art and Craft Festival, October 2-4, 2009, Hildene, Manchester, Vermont. This festival is known for: its annual fall craft show typically featuring works by 200 different artisans, live entertainment, food and more.

3.    Warner Fall Foliage Festival, October 9-11, 2009, Downtown, Warner, New Hampshire. This festival is known for its downtown festival featuring crafts, carnival rides, a farmer’s market, food and entertainment.

4.    Sunday River Fall Festival Weekend, October 10-11, 2009, Sunday River Ski Resort, Newry, Maine. This fall festival is known for the Taste of Maine and the 26th Annual Blue Mountain Arts and Crafts Festival, the 10th Annual North American Wife Carrying Championships (the winner of this event wins his partner’s weight in Bug Light)! Additional events include chainsaw woodcarving demonstrations, horse-drawn wagon rides, a pre-season sports sale, kids’ activities, concerts, etc.

5.    Mystic Seaport Chowderfest, October 10-12, 2009, Mystic Seaport, Mystic, Connecticut. This fall festival is known for its Chowderfest, an annual tribute to New England’s signature soup. 7.    Keene Pumpkin Festival, October 17, 2009, Main Street, Keene, New Hampshire. This fall festival is known for its amazing number of Jack O Lanterns. It vies with Boston for the Guinness Book of World Records recognition as the area with the most lit pumpkins.

This is just a smattering of the available options in the area. RVers who decide they prefer a certain type of fall festival are encouraged to do some additional research. Travelers can easily make a trip of hitting all the Fall festivals featuring Octoberfests or all the fall festivals featuring local artisans or all the fall festivals featuring local seafood…the options are many.

Pedata RV Center Releases 6 Quick Driving Tips to Decrease Gas Costs

Sunday, August 8th, 2010

Pedata RV Center releases 6 quick driving tips to decrease gas costs while pulling travel trailers and/or driving motorhomes or RVS.

6 Quick Driving Tips to Decrease Gas Costs while pulling travel trailers or driving a RV/motorhome:

1.    Avoid quick acceleration. If your RV (or truck/SUV pulling a travel trailer) has cruise control frugal drivers should take advantage of it to decrease the likelihood that there will be unnecessary acceleration on the road.
2.    Avoid speeding. If drivers aren’t willing to drive the speed limit because it’s the law they may not be willing to drive the speed limit to decrease the cost of gas on a trip with a travel trailer, but it is an effective method of decreasing gas costs on a road trip.
3.    Take advantage of overdrive gears when possible.
4.    Keep windows rolled up while driving on the highway. This is a simple matter of wind resistance. And it does make a difference.
5.    Plan in advance (or stay on top of things with your smart phone) to take the quickest route to your destination and avoid traffic where possible.
6.    Turn off your vehicle or RV when it is stopped for over a few minutes. Idling for longer than a few minutes will increase gas costs.

Gerard Pedata of Pedata RV Center said, “We are finding more and more that individuals interested in purchasing travel trailers are doing so in a very finance conscious mindset. They are curious to know the tips of the industry that make RVing even more affordable. They want to know how to get the most out of their RV or travel trailer and one of the most commonly discussed related issues is the cost of gas. These tips may seem simple, but they can make a drastic difference on a road trip with your travel trailer or RV.”

Pedata RV Center Releases Top 3 List of Problem Items Often Found in the Common Toy Hauler

Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

Phoenix, AZ – Pedata RV Center releases Top 3 List of Problem Items often found in the common toy hauler. There are certain things that have to be considered when traveling. It’s surprising how often items that can cause some pretty substantial legal problems are found in the typical toy hauler or RV.

Top 3 List of Problem Items (found in the common toy hauler):

1.    Guns: check the gun laws in the areas to which you will be traveling. For instance…traveling into Canada with a gun in your toy hauler could result in a hefty fine (thousands of dollars as well as the loss of your fire arm).
2.    Firecrackers: this common addition to many toy haulers can cause problems; especially when travelers don’t take notice of regulations and regarding firecracker use and overall fire restrictions/burn bans in their destination area.
3.    Prescription drugs: take care when you’re out of your region to be aware of the regulations on prescription drugs. Make sure you are in possession of legally obtained prescription drugs in their original packaging. If filling a prescription drug out of the country make sure you are in possession of the actual prescription in order to avoid possible legal ramifications.
