Used RVs for Sale: Maximize Your Summer Vacation Budget

Friday, June 17th, 2011

Used RVs for sale are just one way that Americans have learned to make the most of a limited vacation budget. The days when many of us were throwing out money out the window without a care in the world are long gone. But that hasn’t resulted in a substantial decrease in the number of individuals who are enjoying summer vacations.

The summertime is still THE time to get out and about and enjoy a nice, relaxing break from reality. Most tend to define a summer vacation as a length of time (anywhere from 3 day to a month) spent somewhere else doing something else. Sometimes this means a flight to Europe or a tropical island. But in many cases, flights are no longer the mode of travel. Used RVs for sale are being sought out by potential vacationers who see them as the perfect solution to their decreased vacationing budget.

Purchasing one of the many used RVs for sale decreases expenditures on a vacation in many ways including:

  1. Decreased cost of travel. Flight costs have gone up. And they seem to continue going up. Many don’t realize just how much until they’re at the airport, bags in hand listening to the “additional fees.”
  2. Decreased cost of accommodations. There are some RVers who still enjoy a night or two in a hotel or resort just for kicks, but when you find one of the used RVs for sale and make it your own you have instant accommodations. And we’re talking about excellent accommodations. Most used RVs for sale have an impressive array of amenities and features ranging from a full kitchen to big screen televisions.
  3. Increased mobility. Many find that once they arrive at their destination on vacation they are limited due to the costs of local travel. Constant taxi rides or daily rental car fees can drastically increase the overall costs of a trip. But when you decide to purchase one of the used RVs for sale you’ll find one of the most advantageous parts of the deal is that you not only have your mode of transportation TO your destination, but you have your local mode of transportation as well.
  4. Decreased cost of food and dining. While part of the fun of being away from home is to let others do all the work for you, it can be a bit nauseating to pay those ridiculously high dining out bills and it can be equally as disgusting to continually eat fast food throughout the course of your trip. With the recreational vehicle, travelers often have access to a full kitchen making it possible for them to eat “normal” food and not pay an arm and a leg for it. They can simply drop by a grocery store and put their foods in the refrigerator.

The advantages of buying a RV are many. And it seems that individuals and families looking for a vacation option that will suit their budget are becoming increasingly aware of the fact. How have you maximized your vacation budget through RV travel?

Pedata RV Center releases top 5 safety tips to ensure that the recreational vehicle is safe for the family. Pedata RV Center releases top 5 safety tips to ensure that the recreational vehicle is safe for the family.

Safety tips: Keep the Recreational Vehicle Safe for the Family

1. Plan your trip. Provide someone not involved in the trip with a copy of your basic itinerary.

2. Do a general vehicle inspection prior to departing on your trip to avoid any unexpected roadside disasters.

3. Try to travel with a designated navigator. It’s safer if the driver isn’t the one attempting to read the map.

4. Know the weather and road conditions of the areas into which campers will be traveling. This can avoid dangerous ill preparation as well as annoying road delays.

5. Research the laws in the areas in which RVers will be driving. For instance, is it legal to use a cell phone while operating a vehicle?…that depends where you are.

Gerard Pedata of Pedata RV Center said, “Recreational vehicles and the road trips they make possible are definitely fun. But ignoring the safety aspect of your trip can be the quickest way to ruin any and all fun for the entire trip.”

Pedata RV Center Releases List of Basic RV Review Components

Tuesday, April 19th, 2011

Pedata RV Center releases list of basic RV review components rather than the typical comparison of features and comparison of brands. While there is something to be said for knowing that a particular manufacturer can be trusted to provide top quality products or to know that slide outs on certain models have a tendency to stick…the first question is which type of RV is the right type of RV?

Gerard Pedata of Pedata RV Center suggests, “Potential RV buyers who have never owned a recreational vehicle before would really benefit from a thorough study of the various types of RVs. Many show up on the lot without any idea even what type of RV they are looking for and while we are definitely available to help…this situation almost inevitably leads to an overwhelming number of options that lead to confusion.”

Basic RV styles include:

1. Class A: Known as the most luxurious options for recreational vehicles on the road and often sleep up to 8 people comfortably.

2. Class B: Often referred to as a camping van conversion these are ideal for short vacations and weekend trips.

3. Class C: Also known for the luxurious features, but there are also more budget friendly, less luxurious models. They are typically built on a cutaway chassis resulting in a cab similar to that of a truck with a bunk above and a bedroom in the rear.

Knowing at least which class of RV would be most appropriate greatly aids most buyers in obtaining the final result from their purchase they are looking for. Identifying which will best suit the needs is fairly simple once they are identified.

Pedata RV Center sells used RVs, travel trailers, fifth wheels, campers, and motor homes. Their full inventory is accessible online and due to their low overhead costs they are able to offer competitive pricing in their industry. Pedata RV Center Announces More Cash Purchases of Used RVs

Sunday, April 17th, 2011

Pedata RV Center announces more cash purchases of used RVs. Some industry experts suggest that the “tight fist” reaction to the economic downturn has led to an increase in big ticket expenditures from those who have put it off until the health of the economy improved.

But it’s not only big ticket buying that is evident in today’s market. It’s cash purchases. Cash isn’t just for fast food and roadside stands anymore. People in today’s market are swinging more towards cash savings for big ticket purchases over the “credit” option that was so popular in years past.

Gerard Pedata of Pedata RV Center said, “I don’t think anyone is completely turning away from credit. The way our economy and our society is set up really couldn’t allow that but since the major upset that was caused by the recent recession many view their credit opportunities as more of a unavoidable evil than an opportunity to hang onto their cash.”

More big ticket items like used RVs, cars, second homes, pools and other major home additions, etc. are being paid for after cash has been saved up. In years past this was rare. Most consumers paid for big ticket items on credit with the expectation that they would be making payments for a specified amount of time.

Pedata RV Center sells used RVs, travel trailers, fifth wheels, campers, and motor homes. Their full inventory is accessible online and due to their low overhead costs they are able to offer competitive pricing in their industry. Easy access to industry and recreational vehicle information allows consumers to have access to the specific knowledge they need to ensure their purchase results in long term satisfaction.

Pedata RV Center Releases Top 3 List of RVer Movies for Road Trips

Monday, April 11th, 2011

Pedata RV Center releases top 3 list of RVer movies for road trips. The “road trip” is a classic American experience and many find it a vacation in and of itself. Some RVers don’t worry about the destination at all; they are more worried about the trip.

Top 3 List of RVer Movies for Road Trips:

1. RV, starring Robin Williams. Memorable Quote regarding one of the reasons the father of the family thought a road trip was a good idea, “We watch TV in four separate rooms and IM each other when dinner is ready.”

2. Thelma and Louise, starring Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis. Memorable Quote from Louise Sawyer, “You’ve always been crazy, this is just the first chance you’ve had to express yourself.”

3. Planes, Trains and Automobiles, starring John Candy and Steve Martin. Memorable Quote, “Why don’t you take a picture? It’ll last longer.”

Gerard Pedata of Pedata RV Center suggested, “RVers who love movies in combination with their road trips should consider researching the possibility of attending a classic Drive-in Movie Theater while traveling. Access online databases and directors to find out if there is a functioning drive in theater in the region you’ll be visiting.”

Pedata RV Center Releases Top 5 Budget Friendly RV Road Trip Tips

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

Pedata RV Center releases Top 5 List of Budget Friendly RV Road Trip Tips. As more new and veteran RV owners request information on maximizing the RV road trip budget, Pedata cannot ignore the popularity of the RV as a budget vacation option.

Top 5 Budget Friendly RV Road Trip Tips:

1. Study. While you’re not going to compile a report and turn it in for credit, you are going to be traveling through areas that will have points of interest and interesting/entertaining histories. And imparting this knowledge and hitting these spots of interest may not even add anything to the total cost of the trip.

2. Do a basic checkup on your RV prior to departure. The easiest way to go over budget while on the road is to pay exorbitant mechanic’s fees to someone who knows you need to get back on the road and get home. Always check the basics: coolant, engine oil, tires, etc.

3. Start a trip file and keep all your vital documents in it (reservation confirmations, tickets to amusement parks, any passports or birth certificates that may be needed depending on where you are traveling, etc.) This will avoid the expense of replacing lost tickets, paying extra for late arrivals at lodging, etc.

4. Pack the necessary clothes. Don’t over pack. But don’t under pack either. It’s tempting to call yourself spontaneous and just throw in your “favorites” but you’ll find that this method of packing leaves something to be desired. Run through your trip mentally and make sure you are packing appropriate items (i.e. swimsuit, hat, sunblock, snow boots, coat, gloves, etc.)

5. Don’t forget the electronics. While many of us try to get away from it all while vacationing…we don’t really mean get away from it all. Remember your camera, your video camera, your phone, your phone charger, your ipod, your ipod charger, your dvd player and charger, etc.

Gerard Pedata of Pedata RV Center said, “Summer vacations are coming up. We find that the family vacations are even more carefully ‘budgeted’ than those impromptu vacations that take place during short breaks during the year. The easiest way to stay within budget while traveling by RV is to stick to a general plan.”
