Spooky RVing: Putting Together a Halloween Themed Party on the Road

RVing during the holidays can make everything that much more exciting and thrilling, but if RVers aren’t careful it can also feel like celebrating is that much more difficult. Celebrating while RVing can be simple and easy if it’s approached from the right direction with the right attitude. Every party planner (professional or not) learns very quickly to take advantage of all the tools at their disposal. When RVing, the available tools are much more unique and therefore much more potentially exciting.

Putting an RVing Spin on a Halloween Celebration:

  1. Haunted Forest: RVing is all about being outside in nature. Take advantage of this by creating an exhilarating haunted “walk” near your recreational vehicle or campsite. It doesn’t take much: some spooky sounds playing on a CD hidden amongst the bushes along the trail, someone planted to jump out at a fork in the road, etc.
  2. Ghost Stories: There is no more natural setting for a good ghost story than around the campfire. There are even smart phone apps (for instance, Coleman Campfire Tales) that provide the spooky stories with accompanying sound effects.
  3. Spooky Sweets and Treats: If there’s one thing that comes up for every RVer at one point or another, it’s food. Everyone has to eat. Making party foods “spooky” has never been easier with the number of free Halloween printables that provide the creative names and macabre designs for food and drink tags, etc. Free Halloween printables are currently floating around the social media sites and can provide immediate access to food and drink tags including: Zombie Teeth, Hazardous Material, Biohazard Area, Dragon Eyes, Venomous Decomposing Eels, Deadly Night Crawlers, Zombie Virus, Pickled Bat Guano, etc. Simply performing an image search for “free Halloween printables” in Google Image or the popular Pinterest site results in countless options available to send directly to a local printer.

Every RVer has their favorite holidays. Some adore Christmas. Others have a special love for Easter. Some simply find the heat of the summer to be exhilarating. There’s nothing wrong with loving any holiday, but there just might be something wrong with anyone who doesn’t get a kick out of the annual opportunity to get a little “tricksy.” Maxing out on tricking and treating on Halloween is the right thing to do. It keeps everyone better behaved the rest of the year. It’s only logical. Face it, there’s only one time a year it’s appropriate to serve party guests Bat Guano and Dragon Eyes…it’s best to take advantage of it so as to avoid the temptation of serving up disgustingly tasty delectable for the remaining 364 days of the year. Happy Halloween!
